Day 1. 20th March. Arrive Buka and drive up to Togarau to see the Upe initiation ceremony and overnight at Togarau.
Day 2. 21st march. Drive to Arawa and overnight at Arawa womens centre and get full briefing of the track.
Day 3. 22nd March. At 4am drive to Panguna visit the mine pit and drive straight to Jaba tailings and start trekking and overnight at Karato primary school. Along the way there are about 4 big rivers with wet crossings.
Day 4. 23rd March. Continue trekking and overnight at Kavatsia village.
Day 5.24th March. Continue trekking and overnight at Sitovi primary school at the foot of Mt Bagana and in the night see the fire rolling on the side of the volcano.
DAY 6. 25th March. Continue trekking and overnight at Torokina beach at Robin’s guest house.
Day 7. 26th March. At 4am take a 3 hrs boat ride to Buka and overnight at JSK Lodge. After check in can walk around Buka town and Buka market.
Day 8. 27thMarch. Depart Buka
What to bring;
Sleeping bags, hats, water bottles, hats, towels, spare socks and boots, torch, first aid kits, hats, mosquito nets, repellants, snacks, rain coats, camera, binoculars, extra cash if interested to buy gold nuggets.
Accommodation will be in the villages and schools and we will provide raisings for Breakfast, lunch and dinner along the track.
But you can also bring your own energy food.
